A ground-up rebuild of the serving line, released July 2026. New interface, new architecture, new capabilities built for food service directors and the staff running the line every day.
What Changed
The slowness and freezing some districts have seen comes down to one thing: the old system required a constant server connection to function. Every transaction, every student lookup, every menu load was a round trip.
Lotus changes the architecture. Student data, menus, and pricing live on the device. The line runs whether or not your connection does.
How it works
When a serving line opens for the day, Lotus pulls the latest student data, menus, and pricing from the server. From that point on, the device handles everything on its own. Transactions queue locally and push back to the server the moment connectivity allows, even if that's the next morning.
For Existing Customers
Lotus runs on the same ESC-1000 hardware most districts already have. No new equipment required for most upgrades. Your student data, account history, and family records carry over. The serving line experience is completely new, but the underlying data stays intact.
What's New in Lotus
Every module has been redesigned. Here's what's included at launch.
AI Assistant
Byte is a built-in AI assistant that helps your staff work faster. Ask it what your top sellers are this week, find families with negative balances, generate product descriptions for the store, or get a plain-English answer to any "how do I..." question without calling support.
Hardware
No new hardware required for most districts. Lotus runs on your existing ESC setup. For contactless payments at the line, the PAX A35 supports Apple Pay, Google Pay, tap, chip, and swipe. It just plugs in.
